Gree FAQs
Should I replace the Gree filter or just wash it?
If the Gree filter is under two years old, washing is fine. After two years the filter media loses structure and rinses faster but catches less. We bring replacement filters for common Gree models and quote them at cost during the visit.
Is Gree adequate as primary heat in northern Vermont?
Gree mini-splits perform fine down to about 5F outdoor but lose efficiency below that. In Caledonia, Essex, or Orleans County we recommend a backup heat source. Cleaning extends their effective life regardless of how the unit is used.
Do Gree capacitors fail more than other brands?
Yes, somewhat. Gree capacitor failures in the 4-7 year range are documented and usually present as the outdoor unit refusing to start in cold weather. Cleaning will not address a failed capacitor but we will identify it during the visit.
