Diagnostics
Heat Pump Diagnostic Visits
$129 flat. We inspect the system, identify the cause, and quote the repair before any work starts. The diagnostic fee is applied to any repair you proceed with.
When to book a diagnostic instead of a cleaning
- Heat pump is not heating or not cooling
- Persistent error code (P5, E6, U-series)
- Water leaking from the indoor unit on a regular basis
- Tripping the breaker
- Loud grinding, screeching, or repeated clicking sounds
- Outdoor unit iced over for more than an hour
If the symptom is just a musty smell or weak airflow, a cleaning is usually the right call. The smells and airflow issues we see in Vermont are almost always biofilm, not a broken component.
Frequently asked questions
What does the diagnostic visit cover?
Full system inspection, error code analysis, and a written repair quote with parts and labor itemized. We do not begin repair work without your approval.
Why is there a diagnostic fee?
Diagnosis takes time and expertise. Charging for it lets us spend the time to find the actual cause, not just rule things out. The $129 is credited toward any repair you proceed with.
Can you diagnose over the phone?
Sometimes. If you can read us an error code from the unit display, we can often narrow the problem to one or two likely causes. We will tell you honestly whether a visit is needed.
How fast can you come out?
Same week for most of Vermont. Emergency same-day visits are $249 (also applied to any repair).
Got a code or a symptom?
Same-week diagnostic visits across Vermont. $129 flat, credited toward repair.
